Iraqi Regime Executes Senior Republican Guard Officer

According to a SCIRI report, in mid-January 2000 the Iraqi regime executed Lieutenant Colonel Shafiq Ra'id As-Samarrai, a top-ranking Republican Guard officer.Colonel Samarrai was reportedly interrogated in the month leading up to his execution. He was accused of treason, but no further information on the charges against him was available.
