In an interview from Amman published by Al-Hayat newspaper on March 2, 2000, a senior member of the Duleim clans in Iraq, Khalid Al-Duleimi, confirmed that armed confrontations continued between the Duleimis and the Iraqi regime's forces. The most recent clashes occurred in the area of Beiji, north of Tikrit, and resulted from the regime's attempt to forcibly expropriate lands belonging to the clan of Abu Hassan Ali, one of the Duleimi clans. The regime has also tried to extort large sums of money from the Duleimis.Khalid Al-Duleimi also confirmed that the Iraqi regime recently executed Mowaffak Al-Duleimi, a senior officer of the Republican Guard. His execution was related to the execution three months earlier of General Abdul Karim Al-Hamdani and three other officers, including one from the Duleim.
