BEIRUT (Reuters) - A Hizbollah suicide attack on a militia post in south Lebanon on Friday killed four pro-Israeli militiamen and wounded three, a pro-Israeli South Lebanon Army (SLA) source said.

``A pickup vehicle entered the position and the driver blew it up, destroying a large part of the post'' in Aramta, in the eastern sector of Israel's south Lebanon occupation zone, the SLA source said.

Israeli warplanes attacked the area shortly afterwards, witnesses said. Later, Israeli jets attacked areas in Iqlim al-Toufah -- a Hizbollah stronghold in south Lebanon.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from either air raid.

The SLA source said seven militiamen were in the post at the time of the attack, and the three who survived were only lightly wounded.

In Beirut, the Hizbollah guerrilla group backed by Syria and Iran claimed responsibility for the attack.

The incident raised to 11 the number of SLA killed in south Lebanon so far this year. Twenty-five have been wounded in the same period.

Israel has said it will pull out of the occupation zone by July this year. It set up the zone in 1985 with the declared aim of protecting its northern territory against cross-border attacks.

Hizbollah has not made clear whether it would continue attacking Israeli targets after the withdrawal.
