Police in Indian-administered Kashmir say more than twenty people have been killed in violent incidents in the state since yesterday Thursday.
Police said four Indian soldiers and three militants were killed in one clash in the frontier district of Kupwara.
In another, police said militants on board a passenger bus killed an army officer when soldiers stopped the bus.
In the ensuing violence, two militants and two other people were killed by the soldiers. And eight people have been killed in fighting over the past two days at Hajibal near Tangmarg.
Meanwhile some shops remained closed in Srinagar in protest or the killing of a prominent militant, Fayaz Ahmed Bazaz also known as Yasir. They say he was arrested a week ago and died in police custody.
