No question of split: Hizb

The Times of India News Service

SRINAGAR: The Hizbul Mujahideen on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of a split in its ranks, as claimed by chief minister Farooq Abdullah.

Hizb spokesman Masoood said that the Hizb cadres were united and would follow the command of its chief, Salauddin.

This was the first reaction of the Kashmir unit of the Hizb after the ceasefire was withdrawn on Tuesday evening.

The Hizb spokesman said the talk of a possible split was a deliberate attempt by vested interests to create confusion and malign the outfit.

Masood also denied the CM's claim that some Hizb leaders were in contact with the officials. He said: ``Since the first meeting held on August 3, there has been no contact between the Hizb and government officials.'' He also ridiculed Farooq's claim about a disagreement in the Hizb ranks and said the entire Hizb cadre was ``one and united''.
