Six executed for Afghan murder

The anti-Taleban alliance in Afghanistan says it has executed six people found guilty of killing a leading opposition commander earlier this week.

A spokesman for the opposition commander, Ahmad Shah Masood, said the executions were carried out after a court hearing in the opposition stronghold of Panjshir.

The spokesman said that the six had been caught red-handed and had admitted the murder.

He said the assailants had a personal grudge against the victim, Abdullah Jan Wahidi.

He had been shot dead when his car was ambushed last Monday while he was on the way to the Panjshir valley.
